MUKUTAN BANDAS

Located at Mukutan’s headquarters, the Bandas are ideal for families, groups and adventurous travellers who want to spend more time exploring the conservancy.

Their central location makes them particularly suitable for birdwatchers, hiking groups, researchers, students, conservation teams and guests planning longer stays. From here, you are well placed to experience Mukutan’s wildlife, landscapes and conservation work.

Stay close to our conservation work

Staying at the Bandas places you close to the heart of Mukutan’s daily operations. Guests may have opportunities to meet and interact with members of our operations, workshop, ranger and office teams, learning more about the people and practical work involved in protecting the conservancy.

These interactions depend on staff availability and ongoing operations, but they offer a valuable window into life behind the scenes at Mukutan.

Simple, spacious accommodation

Each banda has two queen-size beds and a private verandah overlooking the surrounding landscape. Smaller beds can also be added for children upon request.

Guests have access to hot bucket showers, long-drop toilets and a communal dining and gathering area. In the evenings, you can sit around the bonfire, share stories with other guests or enjoy games together.

A more private dining or gathering arrangement can also be organised upon request.

Flexible meal arrangements

Guests can choose the option that works best for their stay.

For a fully self-catered visit, you may bring your own food and use the shared kitchen to prepare your meals.

You may also bring your own supplies and request assistance from our chefs and wait staff. Alternatively, our team can arrange the shopping on your behalf, with the cost reimbursed by the guest, and prepare the meals for you.

Meal arrangements should be discussed and confirmed before arrival.

Designed for longer, more immersive stays

With its relaxed atmosphere, flexible catering and proximity to Mukutan’s activities and teams, the Bandas are especially well suited to guests who want more than a brief safari stop.

They offer a practical and welcoming place from which to explore, learn, connect and experience the conservancy at a slower pace.
