About the Company

Mukutan Conservancy, previously known as Laikipia Nature Conservancy and Ol Ari Nyiro, sits on the eastern rim of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, spanning 88,000 acres of iconic landscapes, providing a sanctuary for diverse wildlife and ecosystems.

The conservancy is situated at the convergence of two counties and is surrounded by over six pastoral and farming communities that share vital natural resources such as water and pasture.

Mukutan's mission is to lead as a values-based organisation, partnering with local communities to conserve their shared leco-system while fostering economic empowerment through the development of social enterprises and education programs and thus to foster the regenerative development of the broader landscape.

About the Role

Mukutan Conservancy is committed to advancing conservation through science, sustainable enterprise, and community engagement. The Biochemist will lead the scientific and operational aspects of essential oil extraction, analysis, and product development, supporting Mukutan’s efforts to create value from indigenous plant species such as Leleshwa, tea tree, and other aromatic flora.

This role bridges laboratory science and field-based distillation operations, ensuring that essential oil production meets high standards of purity, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The Biochemist will also contribute to broader research on ecosystem health, biomass utilization, and biochemical monitoring to support Mukutan’s conservation and sustainability goals.
