Directions to Mukutan Conservancy

​​Mukutan Conservancy is located in the heart of the Great Rift Valley, nestled between scenic landscapes and rich wildlife. Whether you're driving from Nairobi or another nearby town, follow the steps below to reach us. We recommend using a 4x4 vehicle for a smooth journey.

If you prefer flights, the closest airstrip is Loisaba (Transfers can be arranged). However, we have a private airstrip within the conservancy for private charters.

  1. Take the A104 Highway from Nairobi toward Gilgil.

  2. Continue on the highway toward Nyahururu.

  3. Take the B5 road from Nyahururu toward Rumuruti.

  4. Pass Maili Saba Junction (9 km from Nyahururu).

  5. Exactly 15 km after Maili Saba Junction, turn left off the C77 road at a prominent junction with signposts (including Sipili Funeral Home and Ngumo Boys High School) onto Muhotetu Karaba Road.

  6. After 5.8 km, you will enter Muhotetu Centre.

  7. Turn right directly opposite Best Choice Supermarket, following the road toward Sipili.

  8. Continue straight for 17 km until you reach a T-junction. Turn right.

  9. After 100 meters, you’ll reach a crossroads. Cross straight over onto the road toward Ol Moran.

  10. Continue straight for 19 km until you reach Ol Moran town.

  11. You will pass the Ol Moran Catholic Missionary Church on your right. At the crossroads, turn left.

  12. After passing the cattle enclosures and the windmill, turn left.

  13. Continue straight for 6 km until you reach the conservancy’s Alpha 4 Gate

  1. Take the C76 Road out of Nanyuki heading toward Rumuruti.

  2. Continue on this road for approximately 85 km until you reach Rumuruti town.

  3. In Rumuruti, follow signs for Sipili and continue toward Sipili.

  4. After reaching Sipili, continue straight until you reach a junction where the road ahead leads to Kinamba.

  5. At the junction, turn right toward Ol Moran.

  6. Continue straight for 19 km until you reach Ol Moran town.

  7. You will pass the Ol Moran Catholic Missionary Church on your right. At the crossroads, turn left.

  8. After passing the cattle enclosures and the windmill, turn left again.

  9. Continue straight for 6 km until you reach the conservancy’s Alpha 4 Gate.

Tip: If you're lost, ask for directions to 'Kuki’s Place' or 'Kwa Kuki' —locals will know the way!
